Geometric realizations of generalized algebraic curvature operators
We study the 8 natural GL equivariant geometric realization questions for the
space of generalized algebraic curvature tensors. All but one of them is
solvable; a non-zero projectively flat Ricci antisymmetric generalized
algebraic curvature is not geometrically realizable by a projectively flat
Ricci antisymmetric torsion free connection
The Juridical Status of the Gulf of Taranto: A Brief Reply
The special problem of identifying the juridical nature of coastal indentations is but one aspect of a more fundamental problem: the need to accommodate the legitimate exclusive interests of coastal states in maximizing wealth, power, and national security with the inclusive interests of the community of states in maximizing freedom of the seas. Throughout historical cycles of mares liberum and clausum, this fundamental accommodation has remained the central focus of the international law of the sea. Even today, after thoroughgoing codification efforts in 1958 and 1982: the legal regime of the oceans remains in transition
The Promise of State Constitutionalism: Can it Be Fulfilled in Shef v. O\u27Neill?
This Article reflects on the anomaly of the superior court\u27s decision in Sheff in light of this recent history and recommends that the Connecticut Supreme Court use an alternative, analytical framework based on the Connecticut Constitution to decide the Sheff appeal. This independent approach is equally available to all state courts seeking to resolve fundamental issues under their own constitutions. Only by speaking in a clear, state voice can state courts balance the constitutional vision of the federal courts and fulfill the promise of the state constitutional law movement
The Juridical Status of the Gulf of Taranto: A Brief Reply
The author examines the issue of coastal indentations in relation to the international law of the sea and argues that Professor Natalino Ronzitti has erroneously concluded that the Gulf of Taranto is an historic bay
